This bit has a much thicker mouthpiece than a normal jointed snaffle, which makes it much kinder. This is especially good for those horses with small tongues and a lot of room in their mouth who do not like to take the contact. The thicker mouthpiece evenly spreads the pressure applied by the reins better over the bars of the mouth, the tongue and the roof of the mouth than a thinner mouthpiece would, making the communication between horse and rider much more subtle and gentle. The loose rings allow the horse to move the bit around in their mouth with their tongue, encouraging them to relax their jaw and increase salivation. This bit would be perfect for youngsters who are just starting to have he bit introduced or horses who do not take the contact very well.
This is also dressage legal bit for those who want to compete.
